Air Products is proud to be recognised at the recent Manufacturing Champion Awards by winning the "Skills and Community Champion" category.  Manufacturing Management Magazine who organise the awards, advised that this year's entries were the strongest in its five-hear history and the judging panel had an extremely hard time selecting a winner.  Even making the shortlist is an achievement to be proud of as the very best of UK manufacturing was represented.

The criteria for the award is "The employee who recognises that manufacturing's influence extends beyond the four walls of the factory and gets out into the local area to share their work and experience to a wider audience".  Lynn Willacy, Air Products, has lead various projects over the past year which demonstrates this including our Science Ambassador Programme.  Lynn Willacy, Community and STEM Ambassador UKI was named the winner at the prestigious award ceremony, after fighting off competition from Tata Steel, Devro and Salop Design & Engineering.  The judges commented, "Encouraging the next generation into manufacturing is a key challenge facing the industry, and it is schemes like this that make the difference,  Lynn is encouraging people into the industry who would never have considered it before - we'd love to come and try Space Camp."

Lynn said "It is a great honour to win the award, which externally recognises the STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths) strategy work I have been leading over the past year.  To be able to raise brand awareness of Air Products and help inspire the next generation of young people into STEM careers is importanat and being recognised by the Manufacturing Management Magazine as their "Skills and Community Champion" is amazing."
